As a conceptual designer for this project for Summerhill, LCA responded to Foster City’s civic goals by creating a strong site plan and a distinctive architectural statement. The site plan was organized around two large courtyards, linked at the main entry by a recreation complex. A sense of ‘community’ was achieved by relating the plan back to this focal point. The ‘serpentine’ land plan offered an ever changing vista from surrounding boulevards and provided the fresh statement that the city demanded.
The main corner was designed to be a ‘Gateway to the City’. The primary entry was carved deep into the site, providing vehicular access to parking garages, visitor drop-off and entrance into the recreation building.
