Ka’upulehu Residence
Blessed with a beach-side site in Hawaii and influenced by the architecture of India, we wanted to build first and foremost a garden with rooms of exquisite luxury so that one could live outside. We laid out a series of courtyards designed for flowers and people alike. The home is to be a dream of beauty with walls, stone, and pillars melting into flowers,
As one arrives, a temple-like entry gate sits behind the colonnade with golden doors. Hand-carved stone railings, statues and lanterns from India set the aura of tranquility. The Grand Pool Pavilion floats on a Koi pond and is connected to the garden court by a gently curved stone bridge. The scalloped arches of the garden court entry frame the view of the ocean beyond.
This design creates a luxurious, private, self-contained island getaway for a family who travels with and entertains many guests. The objective was to maintain privacy and quiet for each guest; maximize the stunning ocean, golf fairway and mountain views.
