LCA was hired to modernize elements of Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. We designed a replacement Science Cafe by collaborating with Project Frog, a mobile building manufacturer, to provide a high performance modular building that is fully customized for the needs of the school. This structure has a north-south orientation to minimize unwanted heat gain on the east and west ends. As kitchens tend to run hot, this will save on energy expense. Additionally, the cafe will preserve the lawn area on the south side providing a covered area for outdoor eating and studying. LCA also performed a rehabilitation of the school's Performing Arts Center.
