Oriental Warehouse
Originally constructed in 1868 as a warehouse for incoming trade from Asia, the Oriental Warehouse suffered severe damage in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and two subsequent fires. A new 136,870 sf structure containing 66 contemporary live-work lofts were installed within the brick walls of the existing building. ‘Internal Streets’ were created between the building and the brick walls which provided views of the bay and downtown San Francisco.
LCA Architects Inc. was responsible for design development, coordination, construction documents and construction administration services for this historic landmark building project.
